Changing the Game: Renaming to Table Ball FUnity!

Hi all, if you follow the game on Steam you'll know that I've renamed Table Ball Unity to Table Ball FUnity. This change should now be reflected here. On another note, the 2.4.0.0 patch, being the last build of the game, will be released here once I'm back for Lockyz Media things.

Anyway, lets talk about the name change, why I came to this decision, and how things will work for this version of the game going forward.

Just a MASSIVE FUnity

(Note, for legal reasons it's pronounced "FUN ity", not "F Unity".)

I'm sure it's quite obvious, that since the runtime fee debacle of 2023 I've grown a MASSIVE distaste for the Unity Engine, and the company behind it. I absolutely CANNOT stand this insane disrespect to their customers, and then the stupid pull back only AFTER they were called out. If Unity cared about developers, like they so claim, it would've been quite obvious to never even attempt such a stupid idea, they would never have gone with something that could bankrupt entire studios.

So in 2023 I announced that I was probably going to end the Table Ball project, removing it from Steam, however in May 2024 I finally came to the decision that the game would instead be remade in Unreal Engine, as I was learning Unreal anyway, I felt like Table Ball would be a good starting point for my personal projects.

In order to better differentiate between builds made in Unreal Engine, and builds made in Unity, I decided to rename the game to "Unreal Table Ball" and "Table Ball Unity". And it was going to stay that way, until May 2025 where I was notified about a rather annoying bug in the game that I felt like I HAD to fix, and so I decided, why not show off my utter disdain for Unity in the Unity versions name, and so Table Ball FUnity was born. And so that's where this story ends. Now lets talk a release date for the game on itch.

Table Ball FUnity coming to itch.io July 2025

That's right, the LMA version of Table Ball FUnity will FINALLY be released on itch.io in July 2025 (and other versions, like the archive.org version, will be updated to 2.4.0.0). This will be a stripped down version with no DLC content, nor achievements. This means that the colour packs system will be mostly removed bar from Colour Pack 0. Core features of the game will still function the same as the Steam build.

And with that, I wish you all well.
Thanks for reading this rant,
Robin Painter
